Hub WiFi Setup

Connecting your MyAlerts-Hub to WiFi

Your MyAlerts-Hub is the small device that listens for your sensors and calls you when one is triggered. It needs its own working WiFi connection at all times to do that — here's exactly how to give it one.

This guide is for: Door/Window and Motion sensors

Follow these steps if you're setting up a Zigbee or Low Frequency door/window or motion sensor — these are the sensor types that connect through your MyAlerts-Hub.

Not needed for Flic buttons or wearables

If you're adding a Flic emergency button or a wearable (like a heart-rate sensor), you can skip this entirely — those connect a different way and don't use your MyAlerts-Hub's WiFi at all.

Compatible hub hardware
Raspberry Pi 4 Model B
Any RAM size. Confirmed working with a powered USB hub for the sensor dongles.
Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W
Confirmed working. Also needs a powered USB hub — its single USB port can't run the sensor dongles on its own.
Other Raspberry Pi models (including the original Pi Zero, Pi 3, and earlier boards) have not been tested and aren't currently supported. Last confirmed: August 27, 2026.
Setup steps
1

Plug in your MyAlerts-Hub

Give it about a minute to fully start up. If it's brand new, or it doesn't recognize any WiFi network nearby, it will automatically start broadcasting its own temporary WiFi network so you can connect it.

2

Look for the hub's WiFi network on your phone or laptop

Open your WiFi settings, the same way you'd connect to any WiFi network. Look for one named something like MyAlerts-Hub-1234 (the numbers will be unique to your hub).

Connect to it using the password that came with your hub.

3

Pick your home WiFi network

A setup page should open automatically once you're connected. If it doesn't open on its own within a few seconds, open any web browser and it should appear — that's normal.

Choose your home's WiFi network from the list shown, and enter your home WiFi's password when asked.

4

Wait for it to connect

The hub's temporary network will disappear once it's successfully joined your home WiFi — that's the sign it worked. Your phone or laptop will usually switch back to your normal home WiFi on its own.

5

Check the hub status on your dashboard

Open the MyAlerts.Pro app and look at the hub status indicator near the top of your dashboard. It should show Hub online within about a minute of connecting.

Sensors can still be paired without this step

Pairing a new sensor to your hub works even before your hub has internet — the hub just needs to be nearby and powered on. But that sensor's alerts won't reach you until your hub is actually connected to WiFi, so it's worth doing this setup first.

Still not showing as connected?

If your dashboard still shows "Hub offline" after a few minutes of trying this, send us a note and we'll help you sort it out.
